Over the years, lots of League of Legends fans have seen many kinds of players come and go through the professional scene. However, Only the best are able to maintain a consistent and successful career with the evolving nature of the competition.
Others must make way for the newer, hungrier players who are looking to go pro. That cycle will continue this past season, with some of the players retiring and others starting off their careers by looking to make a name for themselves. In every region, people got a look at the new age of LOL Rookies that amazed critics and fans.
Below are the best rookies who took the Summoner’s Rift by a storm in 2020.
T1’s Canna – League of Legends
It’s quite hard to live up to the legendary T1 name as a rookie. But when Canna moved into the team’s main roster at the end of 2019, he was fast to show why he shouldn’t be underestimated.
The 20 year old is one of the most consistent players in the league during his debut year. He had the second most kills, second most assists, and the highest KDA among others LCK top laners, according to Oracle’s Elixir.
His performance was great that T1 have decided to extend his contract during the off season, signing him until 2022.
Team Liquid’s – Tactical
Since joining the LCS as a full-time starter for the 2020 Summer Split, Liquid’s new AD carry proved himself as one of North America’s rising stars.
The 20-year-old made his first debuts on the big stage when he temporarily stepped in for Doublelift in the 2020 Spring Split. But when Tactical finally became the team’s starting line marksman, he used daring and decisive plays to show his potential to be one of the region’s best players.
In his first full split, Tactical had the one of the highest KDA in the league with the second most kills among other ADCs, according to Oracle’s Elixir. He was a large part of the team’s success and even had some of the highest damage statics in his role. With CoreJJ behind him, he could blossom even further in 2021.
MAD Lions’ Kaiser
After playing on Mousesports for just six month, Kaiser joined a young roster filled with newcomers for the 2020 LEC Spring Split and they ended up winning the hearts of many League fans around the world.
The 22 year old rookie also became one of Europe’s best supports over a year. With his deep heavy engage, Kaiser ended his year with the most kills and assists among LEC support during the 2020 LEC Summer Split, according to Oracle’s Elixir.
His aggression for fighting, supported MAD’s playstyle as a team, eventually leading the team to an impressive 12-6 record in summer. With his increasing experience on stage, there’s no limit for this fiery support.
DRX’s Keria – League of Legends
Keria is one of the youngest players on the list. Just at 18 and yet he was one of the deadliest supports in Korea for the past year. Alongside veteran ADC Deft, these two players quickly became one of the most feared duos in the region and were considered as a top three bottom lane at Worlds 2020.
Throughout the Summer Split in 2020, he led all other LCK supports with a 401 in assists, had a role in leading 72.3 percent of kill participation, and a 29 percent first blood rate. He also gave DRX plenty of options, ranging from Yuumi to Nautilus.
He will soon be joining the legendary mid laner Faker and explosive marksman Teddy on T1. The team has created a formidable core that could help push the world champions back to the top of the LCK again.
