A Plague Tale: Innocence combines all the horrors of the Black Death and the Hundred Years’ War into one package. As Amicia de Rune, British soldiers and legions of wild rats are not the only things players need to keep an eye on during their journey. Amicia’s younger brother Hugo needs care during your trials and tribulations.
Extinguis – A Plague Tale: Innocence
While Ignifer started the fires, Ex put them out. Since rats are always guarded by light sources, they often have a chance to escape annoying guardians. Carefully study your surroundings to take advantage of this ammo.
When the mouse and the sentinel are close together, take advantage of the situation by extinguishing a nearby light source. Sometimes, even multiple enemies will be devoured once their protection has been removed. Be careful, however. Do not extinguish the light source near Amicia, or the same will happen to her!
Unfortunately, not all enemies will be decapitated in A Plague Tale: Innocence. Harder enemies use helmets, which renders normal hits with a rock useless. Beating these bad guys requires a bit of strategy. It is necessary to use different types of ammo to achieve success.
For example, heavily armored enemies will remove their helmets if attacked with acidic Devorantis. A normal rock can then be used to smack an enemy’s head. Other times, Extinguis can be used to eliminate an enemy’s light source, thereby attracting a swarm of rats to their location. It’s important to know the battlefield and use the best tools for the job.
Upgrades – A Plague Tale: Innocence
Throughout the game, Amicia has many opportunities to upgrade her skills and equipment. However, some upgrades are better than others, knowing which to prioritize early can save players trouble on the road.
The first Strings upgrade is an absolute must, as it opens up the ability to instantly kill an enemy when hit in the head. In fact, investing in all Chain upgrades is highly recommended. As said before, upgrading the Pocket is also essential for crafting materials. The Ammo Bag is also very useful, as it allows Amicia to carry more ammo into a fight.
Looking For Collectibles
For perfectionists, finding every last collectible in the game is no laughing matter. A Plague Tale: Innocence has a total of 55 collections. They are divided into four broad categories, including Gifts, Curiosities, Alchemy Carts, and Hugo’s Steppe.
Collections emit white light, so players should keep an eye out. They unlock codex entries, which expand based on the legend as well as different characters. In particular, Alchemist Carts rewards players with a treasure trove of crafting materials. As such, collecting them is often worth the risk.
Aim For The Head – A Plague Tale: Innocence
Amicia’s only offensive weapon is her sling. It is useful but needs to be used properly to take down enemies. First of all, the head is almost always the main goal. Enemies wear thick metal armor over the rest of the body, rendering the sling obsolete.
When aiming for the head, the ideal enemy should be invisible. This will give Amicia enough time to shoot and aim properly. Enemies are warned can close the gap quickly. Once they reach Amicia, it will lead to instant death.
