In this Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl breeding guide, we’ll explain the process of mating two Pokémon to produce powerful offspring. This guide will explore the breeding process, breeding sites, Ditto breeding, and the items you should use to maximize your breeding.
Pokemon Breeding – Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, two Pokémon can spawn and produce offspring. This resulting child will take over statistics from the parent, allowing you to create a creature of high Individual Value (IV) or a specific nature.
Selective breeding in the Pokémon game is used to develop partners with strong stats that make them great for competitive play. This process may take a while to produce an outcome you’re happy with, but it’s part of the end game.
Check IVS – Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
After defeating the Pokémon League, you can learn how to check your IV by talking to the glasses-wearing NPC inside the Battle Tower, on the far right. He’ll teach you the Judge feature, which allows you to press the + (Plus sign) and see the Pokémon’s stats through your boxes. The stats are ranked as:
- No Good
- Pretty Good
- Very Good
Best means it has 31 perfect IVs in that stat, so you should aim for that.
Breed Pokemon Location
To produce Pokémon through breeding, go to a nursery, you can find a nursery in Solaceon Town.
At daycare, talk to the woman at the counter. She will ask you about which two Pokémon you would like to leave her care to breed. When the creatures are in her hands, the process of reproduction begins.
The breeding process takes time to complete, so you will need to save time by traveling around Sinnoh. If you talk to the man on the left in the nursery, he’ll give you an app that allows you to check the breeding process while you’re away. When the eggs are ready, talk to the lady at the counter who will deliver the eggs. With the egg in your party, the spawning process begins again.
Breed With Ditto – Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Breeding two Pokémon together requires that they belong to the same group of eggs. Think of the group of eggs as a certain class of animals. Finding compatible mates of the same group of eggs for selective breeding can be challenging, but the breeding process can be easier with a particular Pokémon.
Pokémon Ditto can be crossed with any Pokémon from any egg group and gender. So, before you start breeding, it’s best to find a strong valuable Ditto to be your first mating partner. Use your Ditto as the basis for your crossbreeding and look for other Pokémon you want to breed with Ditto as their partner.
Destiny Knot And Everstone
There are 2 items you should have before you start breeding pokemon. These two kept items will make your breeding efforts much more fruitful.
The Destiny node allows you to pass on five of the six IVs from a parent to its children. If you have a Ditto with a high IV, it’s best to give this item to them. From there, you can find suitable partners with other high IVs. Then, when they spawn, at least five IVs of the female will be good as your Ditto and the sixth will hopefully be filled by its mates.
Everstone is an item with two functions, its default ability prevents the Pokémon from evolving. However, during spawning, stones gain a different function. When a Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl holds an Everstone while spawning, it passes on its essence to its offspring. This is an important function to keep in mind when nature increases and decreases certain stats. Give your Everstone to your non-Ditto mating partner to ensure their offspring is of the right nature when it is born.
