The Stinger is the cheaper of Valorant’s two SMGs, with a price tag of just 1,000 CREDS. This price allows you to force the purchase of a weapon in every non-pistol round, although we wouldn’t recommend that strategy.
The Stinger – in the Footsteps of the Spectre
It is often described as one of the worst weapons in the game but SMG can be a real beast in melee combat. Sure, the Specter, another SMG, is already some home but it’s also priced higher. Stinger can combine with shields and agent abilities for some basic equipment very well, so don’t underestimate it.
Damage, Fire Rate, Spray Pattern
This gun’s damage is pretty low, especially compared to a competitor – Specter – or even with a Classic Pistol can do the same amount of damage. From 0 to 20 meters, one shot in the head deals 67 damage, the body shoots 27 damage, and one shot in the leg for 23 damage. From 20 to 50 meters, the damage is 62, 25, 21.
SMG is gaining points for the rate of fire: 18 bullets per second makes a difference in damage compared to other primary and secondary weapons. However, the magazine can only hold 20 bullets, so it wouldn’t make sense to just hold them in your hand.
For spray type: after a few shots, the gun moves up and then left and right unpredictably. It’s better to shoot a few shots in a row – if you hit the target there, the target is already in place. After switching to ADS mode, the Stinger turns off fully automatic mode and becomes an explosive weapon. This could be the better mode for it as it uses much better ammo.
The Stinger is definitely an ecological weapon and is exceptionally good for the attack – although defenders can also set traps to surprise their opponents. The magic word is run and shoot. Sneak around corners and hold on to it, running and shooting. The aim is important, partly due to the type of shot, but since it only takes about a second to empty a clip, it’s better to shoot a little less shot in that direction instead of a long aim.
If you’re against the gun, prepare for lots of races – the game is fast, requires quick thinking and decisions. You shouldn’t rely solely on it and a sub-weapon. Agent skills should be used effectively and shields are also part of the setup – if you’re regularly engaged in a melee fight, you might even get a bullet or two.
Tip: Even in run-and-gun, it’s sometimes better to sneak while shooting to improve weapon accuracy – this applies to most weapons in Valorant.
When Should you Buy the Stinger?
With 1000 credits, the Stinger is a good weapon – even for the first few rounds before moving on to a more expensive and better weapon.
However, don’t forget to save some money to equip your shield and skills. As long as it’s enough, nothing gets in the way of an eco-positive cycle.
The Best Agents for the gun
Who benefits from this gun’s statistics? In fact, all those who favor the weapon’s aggressive gameplay with their skill – melee and run and shoot. These agents include Phoenix, Jett, Omen, and Viper. On the other hand, a healer like Sage would be a pretty bad choice. What matters more than actors, however, is individual gameplay: aggressive, adventurous, fast!
