Rune Factory 4 Guide – Some Tips And Tricks For New Player

Rune Factory 4

Rune Factory 4

Neverland’s Rune Factory 4 Special hits retail and Switch eShop this week. An adaptation of the original 3DS from 2013, this release marks the debut of the series on home consoles. In it, you will fight monsters, marry the town’s beloved friends and become the best farmer on this side of Selphia.

Start Off With Farming

Rune Factory 4

The best way to make money early in Rune Factory 4 is to focus on farming. Buy some seeds from your local general store and plant them in the garden at the back of your house.

If you ask me, the most reliable varieties to start with are radishes. Make sure they are given water every day and you should be able to get them out of the ground in a few days. Put them in a nearby chest and you’ll have the gold paid to your account at the next 8 am.

If you don’t have enough money to buy seeds, you can also sell other items like grass and rocks. It doesn’t pay as much as crops but is the easiest alternative to make money fast.

Talk To People – Rune Factory 4

The inhabitants of Selphia are lovely and will usually have something to say every day. It is wise to talk to them regularly as they will give you hints and secrets that you may not have discovered. This may unlock new events earlier than expected. If you’re nice to them, they’ll reciprocate the gesture and maybe even give you an item. There are also other NPCs represented on the minimap with a red dot. These characters don’t play an important role in the story, but sometimes they deliver something you can’t get anywhere else.

Adjust The Difficult

At the beginning of the story you can choose the difficulty to play, but don’t worry about this too much. You can change this at any time by going into the basement of your house and interacting with the book on the shelf. If you’re having a hard time with the boss fight in Rune Factory 4, you can tweak it down to Easy. But you can also level up faster on a higher difficulty, so it might be worth it if you want to hit some levels.

Take Your Time – Rune Factory 4

Rune Factory 4

Just like other life simulations like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley, this is a game that can be played for tens or even hundreds of hours. Farming, crafting, cooking, romance, fighting, and mining are just some of the little things to do, and there’s no pressure to get any of them done as quickly as possible. It’s a huge RPG, with lots of secrets, so it’s not something that has to be rushed in a week.

Tame The Beasts – Rune Factory 4

Rune Factory 4

If you exit the town gate and go into the forest, you will be vulnerable to attacks by monsters. Fortunately, many of these creatures are really lonely and can become your friends if you give them food and presents. You can then invite them to join your team on adventures or send them to the farm to help with the fieldwork.

Their relationship with you can be improved by brushing and feeding them and in doing so will increase the reward of their harvest. If you no longer have any use for a monster in your care, you also have the option of releasing it back into the wild.
