Sable Guide – Some Tips And Tricks For Beginners

Sable

Sable, Shedworks’ first game, is about exploring a vast and eerie wasteland on your own terms. At your speed. Follow your own instincts. But just in case you need a little push, let’s say, in the right direction, here are some tips and tricks to kick off the strange pilgrimage ahead of you.

Last Allowance

Sable

The currency, known as “cuts” in the wasteland, is easy enough to come across. Look out for glowing vases and chests as you explore the various ruins and outposts. Before you hit the road, there’s already a pretty good cache in place that you don’t want to miss.

Hanging above Ibex Camp is a hot air balloon ship. Climb the rocky mountains and talk to the Cartographer, see his stuff but even if you have enough money to buy his map, don’t buy it. Return to camp and refer to the map for Jadi, the town. There’s a dialogue option to ask if the map is relatively priced, and no matter how you phrase it, Jadi will give you a decent bag of coins to get you started. Again for the road.

Maps are quite handy in Sable and can be bought for a decent price. Also, don’t sleep on the quick travel feature from the map screen.

Float On

Hovering and climbing abilities in Sable are more generous than you might be used to in other games. Most situations can be solved with an initial stamina meter. Hover down very gradually. Even if a gap looks like a terrifying abyss, you’ll be surprised how far your hover can take you. If you’re still cold feet on certain jumps, try climbing as far as you can up a perpendicular wall, jumping down, and drifting the rest of the way.

Count Your Eggs – Sable

Again, most of the obstacles in the game can be solved with default stamina. Crossing the wasteland, you’re bound to stumble across ‘Chum Eggs.’ If you see a weird little ribbon floating above the figure eight, it’s the Chum, a charming little worm. Reach out and they will turn into an egg.

Collecting them has a great benefit, Southwest of Burnt Oak Station, the original outpost, is ‘Chum Lair’, a large mountain that is home to the Queen of Jars and not the abandoned bench beneath that bridge on campus, which I also casually called ‘Chum Lair.’ A small cave opens to the west of the lair. Talk to Chum Queen to exchange eggs for permanent stamina, just like real-life eggs. There are two Jars of Eggs waiting for you at the perimeter of the Chum Lair if you get there in a little while.

Big City Problems – Sable

Quests and medals await throughout the wasteland, activating them is usually as simple as going through outposts or ruins. If you’re having a hard time building your profile, the best place to start is in Eccrine, the largest city on the map. It is located in the northwest territory of the map.

If you come across a giant cable through the ground, following it south will lead you to Eccrine and its many adventures there. Immediately when you step through the gate, you will be asked to solve a large conspiracy across the city. It’s great to feel important.
