Shadow of the Colossus was first released in 2005 on PlayStation 2 and immediately became famous for its unusual gameplay, heartbreaking storyline, and mesmerizing soundtrack. The game was re-released on PlayStation 3 with updated graphics and again on PlayStation 4 in 2018.
Wander’s riding, Agro, is an essential part of playing Shadow of the Colossus. While the controls are less of a hassle than in previous versions, they can still be tricky.
Press triangle to make Agro move faster, however, you don’t have to crush it (like when riding Epona in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time). You can actually hold down the triangle button to keep the Agro running at the same speed. It made things a lot easier and saved me from having to watch Wander frantically slap Agro’s thighs on both sides every few seconds.
There are trees all over the Shadow of the Colossus world, don’t just race past them! These trees contain fruit that Wander can shoot with his bow and arrow. Consuming them will give the player a longer life bar.
Some trees have only one fruit while others have many. Carefully examine them, use the arrow to knock the fruit, and eat the fruit by standing in front of it and pressing R2. You will enjoy a permanent increase to your life bar.
Eat Lizard Tails
Wander’s life bar is second only to his stamina! Stamina is essential for climbing, holding on to monsters, and determines the strength of your stab. Although you also get a permanent slight increase in stamina after defeating each Colossus, consuming the white lizard tail will give you a nice reward.
A white lizard can be found at each of the small shrines, which is also a shelter. Whenever you find one, hunt the small lizard with a glowing silver tail at the shrine. You can kill the creature with arrows or swords, but you can also cut off the tail without killing the lizard. It makes no difference to the stamina you get.
Eating enough of these lizard tails will provide an enormous amount of stamina that will make Wander unstoppable! After all, there are few things more annoying in this game than falling back on the ground because Wander ran out of juice.
Equip Sword – Shadow of the Colossus
Wander’s sword is only used to stab the Colossi’s weak points, but don’t forget to equip it while you’re climbing them! Some of these monsters need arrows but remember to drop the bow as soon as you finish it.
Equipping the sword ensures you can see Colossi’s weak point. Without it, they’ll be invisible, making it impossible for you to know where you’re going.
Fans of this amazing game were delighted when the updated version, complete with beautiful graphics and smooth gameplay, was released in early 2018. With these tips and tricks, you will spend Kill the Colossi instantly!
Pray at Shrines – Shadow of the Colossus
Praying at the shrines helps rescue the game, but that’s not all it does. After pressing R2 in front of the temple’s tombstone-like structure, the location will appear on the map.
Ideally, do this after you’ve eaten the white lizard’s tail, then you’ll know if you’ve been there or not. This is useful when you are trying to find and consume all the tails.
