State of Decay 2 is a difficult game. Undead Labs’ survival sequel lulls you into a false sense of security, holds back hordes of zombies so you can gather materials and upgrade your base of operations, attack only when you least expect it, kill permanent community members and wreak havoc on your home.
Do Not Travel Alone – State of Decay 2
A shared problem is a halved problem; it’s an aphorism that is just as relevant in a stable society as an aphorism ravaged by the undead. Always make sure you bring a companion: they’ll aid you in your battles to better contain the crowds that overwhelm you, and they allow you to carry more. Just switch to them easily by talking to them and you have a new inventory to fill.
The brave souls that make up your community can get hurt and tiresome if you don’t turn them around on a regular basis. If you don’t give them adequate rest or give them first aid in the base infirmary, you may find your companions unwell enough to support you outside.
If that’s the case, take your chances instead of risking the eternal death of a respected colleague. Similarly, consider responding to distress calls from other human Enclaves: often they will want to join you.
Use Vehicles Smartly
Using transport is always risky, but they can be very helpful in State of Decay 2. Not only can they take you further when exploring the map, but they also allow you to have more space to store documents. That way, adventures outside of your base can be more lucrative.
However, be aware that the engine is loud and will attract scammers to your location. Things become even more dangerous at night if you have your headlights on. Prepare ourselves by stocking an extra tank of fuel in the trunk to avoid getting stuck – which we absolutely didn’t do.
Take The Right Survivor – State of Decay 2
Each member of your growing community will be very different. You could also have a military man or woman, armed to the teeth with rare guns, sharing a bed with a green-fingered, sharp-grooming gardener or doctor. Each one will have different skills and stats, so keep in mind what you need before you start your expedition.
If you’re dealing with an infection, you’ll have at least one person thinking about the problem. These demons shout as loud as they can to all nearby zombies that it’s time for dinner, so you’ll need someone with a weapon to take them down silently first. Ideally, in this situation, you can call on a colleague with a high fire rating and a rifle with suppressed equipment. Similarly, if you’re just looking for supplies, bring someone with a roomy backpack and a good heart rate.
Trade With Enclaves
Enthusiasts are other groups trying to establish themselves in the post-apocalyptic world of State of Decay 2, and they often have rare gear for sale. Before you go and meet these mysterious merchants, make sure you have all valuable loot ready in your inventory and bring a companion or a car with you. Reserve extra in case you spend it lavishly.
These merchants often have weapons and items that you can’t find anywhere else, so take advantage of them. Also, know that these traders are usually available for a limited time, but don’t risk your community members if they aren’t fit or sane enough to go with you.
