Team Liquid top-laner Barney “Alphari” Morris is dominating the top lane during the 2021 LCS Spring Season.
As the first LCS spring season comes to a close, it’s time for Team Liquid, the defending LCS Lock In champions, to make a final effort to finish at the top of the standings. After winning the LCS Lock In, Team Liquid was inconsistent and unable to perform at the highest level.
Team Liquid Alphari was the decisive factor for the team victory
The player who keeps them in contention for the top positions is mainly Team Liquid Alphari, who statistically crushes in the top lane. Even against Cloud9 in the last week, he was the decisive factor for Team Liquid’s victory.
Most of the fans who knew Alphari from his time in the LEC already know that this guy is a beast, especially during the laning phase. Back on Origen in 2020, Alphari was also top of many statistics, even though Origen was at the bottom of the league. On an individual level, Team Liquid Alphari is always reliable and will, in most cases, win his lane even without much attention to the jungle. The same goes for his performance after joining Team Liquid in the LCS in 2021.
He has been a rock for the team
Team Liquid Alphari has been a rock for the team. While Team Liquid is moving into Week 6 without locking the playoff position yet, Alphari will look to win the last few victories before the playoffs begin. Team Liquid will be facing Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, and 100 Thieves, which are the three matches where the top lane could be the main focus.
On paper, he is either the best or the top two in the league’s most important statistics. Top-laners like the Evil Geniuses Jeong “Impact” Eon-young and 100 Thieves Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho are trying to catch up, but it’s clear that there’s a new top-laner in town. Here’s a look at some of the he stats, compared to some other top laners in the LCS.
-1st in average damages to champions per minute (512 damage)
-1st in average gold difference at 10 minutes (412 gold)
-1st in average creep score differential at 10 minutes (12.8 CS)
-2nd in total kills (49 kills)
-2nd in KDA ratio (6.1 KDA)
-2nd lowest total deaths (24 deaths)
It is evident that Team Liquid Alphari is a beast in the top lane, and at this point in time there is no denying that he should be considered the best top-laner.. To capitalize on this, the rest of Team Liquid will need to step up and fix any problems that create inconsistency.
Team Liquid was defeated by CLG’s bottom team on the final day of LCS Week 5, just one day after defeating Cloud9’s top team. This is a huge sign that Team Liquid still has things to do as a team and can’t just play off individual skills. When the playoffs hit, Team Liquid must be on the point of not being punished in the best of five format.
Team Liquid will play its next game against Dignitas on Match 12.
