Pre tournament favorites are represented in Mid Season Showdown
All pre tournament favorites are represented in the 2021 LCS Mid Season Showdown, including a bit of a surprise in Dignitas. The bracket has been set and will begin this weekend, so let’s take a closer look at what’s ahead.
Following weeks of best of one games, the six best LCS teams will now compete in a double elimination bracket with all matches being best of five. The top four teams from the regular season will begin in the upper bracket, while the fifth and sixth seeds will have to battle their way through the lower bracket.
Winning in the lower bracket will be essential, as a loss will mean the end of any team’s season. The upper bracket’s two opening matches must be completed before the lower bracket can begin. The two losers from the upper bracket games will be relegated to the lower bracket, where the battle for a comeback will begin.
TSM managed to grind its way through the lower bracket and progress all the way to the finals of the 2020 LCS Summer Split playoffs just a few months ago. This miraculous run demonstrates that even a lower bracket team can go all the way, which adds to the excitement.
The 2021 LCS Mid Season Showdown schedule

The first round of the lower bracket will begin once the dust has settled from the first round of the upper bracket. This is where Dignitas and Evil Geniuses will play in the tournament.
