There are tons of great kart racing video games out there, and we wanted to pick out a few that might interest you. In this list, we have three recommendations for you.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
When Nintendo was dominating the kart scene with Mario Kart, Crash Team Racing provided a competitive alternative on the PlayStation. Of course, that doesn’t happen either but it has a strong following. Fortunately, years later the game was remade for modern platforms like the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.
Not only did we get visual enhancements to our courses, but we also got a ton of improvements. If you don’t recall the original game, this is a kart racer that reimagines the usual racing stunts compared to what you would expect from traditional kart racing video games.
However, the title focuses on the Crash Bandicoot franchise to race against. With Crash Bandicoot reviving with titles like Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, those who haven’t used Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled may be missing out on some thrilling gameplay.
Diddy Kong Racing – kart racing video games
Developers Rare has joined the kart racing genre for the Nintendo 64 as well as with Diddy Kong Racing. It was a very similar game to Mario Kart 64 at the time, but what was different was the line of characters that the player could race around.
In the game, we have a storyline for the player to go through, watching Diddy Kong and his friends race. Fight different bosses to defeat an evil sorcerer pig named Wizpig that is plotting to take over the world. Here we used to be against racing around fields where players can collect power-ups to power up or attack opponents.
Unlike some other games, there are clear indications of what level the power is at, and when similar powerups are collected, the player is offered a more powerful alternative like a batch increase more force or more rockets to shoot at enemies.
Furthermore, players can race at different levels in flying boats, planes and of course karts. While the title was a huge hit for the Nintendo 64, Rare was eventually acquired by Microsoft, concluding a planned sequel to the Nintendo GameCube.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – kart racing video games
Finally, one of the biggest kart racing video games currently having players join online to compete with other players and friends is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Originally released in 2014, Mario Kart 8 was a huge hit for the Nintendo Wii U but unfortunately the console platform itself was not very successful. Therefore, Nintendo stepped in and made some improvements and characters to bring Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to the Nintendo Switch.
This is just the classic Mario Kart experience with lots of levels, iconic characters, various kart customization options, incredible visuals, and awesome soundtrack all wrapped up in one complete entertainment package. very good. You can’t get better than Mario Kart 8 Deluxe right now, and even though it’s a port of the Nintendo Wii U version, the game still performs incredibly well to this day.
