What started as a toyline quickly exploded into a massive franchise. Transformers have been around since the 1980s and it has gone from being a humble little toy to a comic book, cartoon, and even a blockbuster series. Fans can’t get enough of this IP where we got to watch the Autobots battle the Decepticons. Over the years a number of notable Transformers games have been released for this IP, and like the others, there have been some hits along with a lot of misses.
Transformers: Devastation – Transformers games
Transformers: Devastation is a fun game, especially if you love the classic Transformers animated series. The shaded view looks like the game achieves the 80s cartoon style along with the upbeat heavy metal music playing in the background which might cause some nostalgia for some.
This is also a game developed by PlatinumGames and you can tell it right away from the high-speed action gameplay. It’s very hack and slash with the player impersonating different Autobots that quickly run around fighting enemies through melee with guns or even transforming into a vehicle to deliver some crazier hits.
If you’re not familiar with PlatinumGames these are the people behind Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Nier: Automata, and Astral Chain to name just a few of their games. In this game, we will follow the Autobots who have to save Earth from a new Decepticon plan to turn the planet into a new Cybertron. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of bad news here, and the fact that this game was taken offline from digital stores after the licensing deal between Activision and Hasbro ended.
Transformers: War for Cybertron
Development studio High Moon Studios was able to deliver one of the Transformers games that achieves what fans have come to expect with Transformers: War for Cybertron. It takes place before the events of the original animated series and is considered typical. This means fans have been given a bit of backstory for various beloved characters and events that help fill in some of the gaps in the story.
In this game, we are following the confrontation between the Autobots and the Decepticons during the civil war on the planet Cybertron, their homeland. It is an action-packed third-person shooter that puts players in the roles of both Autobots and Deceptions. Playing as these iconic characters, you’ll get to use their various abilities and transformations as you battle it out.
While fans enjoyed the multiplayer aspect of this game, its servers have been closed since. However, this is not the full plot for this game story and there is a follow-up title.
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron – Transformers games
After Transformers: War for Cybertron, we have a sequel to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. We know that the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons didn’t go well.
The planet they are fighting, Cybertron, has become unstable for their lives and it has caused the Autobots to flee. Of course, the Decepticons don’t like players taking off and are doing their best to ensure that the Autobots fall into line or are destroyed. This is still a third-person shooter full of different Autobots that players will role-play.
Likewise, you can expect some in-game moments that feature different attributes that these massive mechanical protagonists will be able to take advantage of in the heat of battle. This is the final big battle on Cybertron, where the Autobots are on the run from the galaxy and find new refuge in the Milky Way.
Fans have found this one of the amazing Transformers games from the storyline and top action moments, the developers behind this game High Moon Studios have delivered a solid product.
