In this video games list, we’ll be featuring some of our favorite titles that make us spend more time getting to know the world in the game than trying to keep the story going. Likewise, we focus only on PlayStation 4 exploration games that have been released in the past five years.
Grand Theft Auto V – PlayStation 4 exploration games

Grand Theft Auto V is generally one of the biggest open-world titles ever developed and it really ties into the city of Los Santos. This time, players will take control of the three main characters with tales about old secrets kept behind and new beginnings. Outside of the main campaign’s standout cast, Los Santos serves as the setup for the online component known as Grand Theft Auto Online.
Online, gamers can face off against each other in multiple game modes, join together and complete missions or even decide to wreak havoc while fleeing the police. Years after its initial release, Grand Theft Auto V continues to be a popular video game to play. Especially because the large map is full of city life to desert lands and lush fields.

Resident Evil 2 – PlayStation 4 exploration games
- Developer: Capcom
- Publisher: Capcom
Capcom has been an iconic video game development studio for years, and it has delivered a staggering number of IPs. One of them is Resident Evil, a title we’re sure to include on this list, and as iconic as this series, it’s no surprise the development team decided to handle remakes.
Unfortunately for gamers, most of the remakes have been devoted to the original title and although that wasn’t a bad thing, for fans of the series, there has been a lot of pleading for the developers to come up with a remake of its sequel, Resident Evil 2. Well, it took a couple of years but Capcom has done it and gives gamers a remake of Resident Evil 2 for current-generation platforms. This remake does exactly what Capcom did with the original.
The Resident Evil 2 remake has brought a visual overhaul that makes the PlayStation 4 exploration games look fresh and crisp. However, there have been some changes to the game overall, such as the gameplay mechanics, such as removing the standard tank controls years ago to the easy-to-accept third-person mechanics.
