Fighting in Wargroove can be frustrating if you’re not familiar with the game’s unique turn-based combat style. While the story mode doesn’t do a great job of introducing new concepts to ease you into mastery, some of the game’s early battles can still be tough.
Getting Critical Hits
Every unit in Wargroove has the ability to land a critical hit, dealing massive damage. If you use this ability, most units can defeat several enemies in a single hit. Not all units are the same, though, each requires different to perform a critical attack.
For instance, Swordsmen can only make a critical attack if their commander is directly next to them. The ranged trebchchet has tougher prerequisites: it needs to hit a target at maximum range to hit the hardest.
Our best advice for learning all of these conditions is to happen in the game’s Codex and read about each unit. Every member of your army has several pages of information explaining their important roles in battle, statistics on how they perform against other units, and more importantly, a demonstration. written and visual to carry out their critical strike.
Counter Pick Units – Wargroove
While critical attacks are the most powerful way to deal damage, you can do a one-off kill if you hit the right type of enemy.
Each unit in the game is strong and weak against a host of other enemy types. The key to keeping your troops alive and defeating your enemies quickly is to access select units. Choosing soldiers who have a natural advantage against whatever your enemies are is essential to surviving in Wargroove.
It’s easy to figure out which unit to pick at any given time. When you visit a unit’s dashboard on the battlefield, you’ll see a graph full of information. At the bottom of each table is a list of their advantages and disadvantages for all possible units. While this information is not spelled out in plain text, you can rely on the images to make your choices.
Use Commanders Properly – Wargroove
In each battle you play, you control one of the game’s 12 plus commanders. Each hit is stronger than your average unit and has more health. But it’s their special talent – or Groove – that makes each one unique.
After engaging in combat for a while, each commander can unleash their special ability. Some commanders have the ability to judge their enemies, while others can heal their units or take control of the battlefield. Understanding how each skill can scale is key to mastering each commander’s playstyle gear.
Mercia, the game’s protagonist, has a healing ability that covers a wide area. If you surround her with swordsmen, capable of performing critical attacks if they are next to her, she can heal a handful of them in a single turn when the special ability Her special is ready. Her talent helps her stay in the thick of battle with her units, making her a necessity for the frontline troops that are the rest of her army. On the other hand, commanders like Greenfinger can drop some vines on the battlefield, making him an expert at keeping the enemy in the bay and using ranged units.
Wargroove is as much about combat as it is about resource management. In each battlefield, scattered among the roads, rivers and mountains were several villages.
Capturing a village has two benefits: units can heal in your controlled villages and each turn each village you control gives you 100 gold.
You will need gold to summon units and controlling villages is the only way to earn it. Remember that the more people you control, the more coins you gain per turn. You can use that money to summon more units or access more expensive units sooner than you will.
